• Substances such as citrate & albumin bind LPI.
  • By including NTA in the assay at concentrations too low to affect transferrin-bound iron, iron bound to other substances can be mobilized, allowing its measurement as eLPI.
  • The prospective ALLIVE trial identified that elevated pre-SCT eLPI is an independent predictor of NRM & OS.
  • Therefore eLPI is a biomarker of IOL that appears to be clinically relevant & indicate a need for intervention¹.
  • eLPI should be included in future studies of IOL reduction in SCT & non-SCT patients.
