Iron overload and acute myeloid leukemia

Chart - Iron overload and acute myeloid leukemia
  • Control mice did not develop leukemia until after 70 weeks
  • Iron overloaded mice started to develop leukemia at 26 weeks
  • By 70 weeks, 40% died of leukemia

Figure. Time to AML progression was significantly longer in ICT vs non-ICT patients (P<0.0001). Median time from MDS diagnosis to AML progression was 46.7 months in the non-ICT group, 86.3 in ICT patients, and 97.8 in the ICT ≥6 months group.
